JONESPORT — Maine State Police on Monday identified a man who shot and wounded his girlfriend over the weekend and then killed himself as Michael Robinson-Tarr, 26.
Robinson-Tarr shot his girlfriend on Saturday evening in the home they shared and then shot himself to death, according to Lt. David Tripp.
The woman was wounded in the left arm, but she was treated at a hospital and released, Tripp reported. The BDN is not identifying her since she is considered a victim and has not been charged with any crime.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to the home at 139 Main St. about 9 p.m. Saturday after the victim called authorities and reported being shot.
Robinson-Tarr was dead at the scene when police arrived.
“His death was pronounced suicide,” Tripp said Monday. The lieutenant did not know what type of gun was used.
Tripp declined to release information about what precipitated the shooting.
“The investigation is still ongoing,” he said.
