DIXFIELD — A logging truck driver for a Jefferson trucking firm was injured Tuesday evening when he fell off the top of a truck at the Irving Forest Products Inc. mill lot in Dixfield, police said.
Dixfield police Chief Richard A. Pickett said Wednesday morning that officer Anne Simmons-Edmunds responded to the wood mill at 7:25 p.m. to help guide a MedCare Ambulance crew to the injured man.
Pickett said the driver used his cellphone to contact his employer, LLP Trucking Co., to tell them he’d fallen off the top of the truck while putting a tarp on it.
“He said he was unable to move, but breathing and conscious,” Pickett said.
Pickett said police didn’t have the name of the driver, who is in his 40s.
MedCare was initially told to use the entrance at 4 Hall Hill Road, but Simmons-Edmunds radioed dispatchers in Paris to send the ambulance to Irving’s Mill Street gate entrance.
A man who answered the phone on Wednesday at LLP in Jefferson confirmed the injured driver works for the company. He declined further comment.
Irving’s spokeswoman, Mary Keith, in St. John, New Brunswick, did not return calls Wednesday. MedCare also did not return calls for information.
