PERU — The Friends of Peru Elementary School will host an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Sunday, March 23, at the former Peru Elementary School.

Nick Waugh, chairman of Friends of Peru Elementary School, said Thursday afternoon it will mark the second consecutive year the breakfast has been held in conjunction with Thurston Family Farm on Dickvale Road in Peru.

“We’ve had plenty of pancake breakfasts in the past, but nothing like we do now,” Waugh said. “Adelia Thurston, who is one of the people that runs Thurston Family Farm, is also a volunteer with the Friends of Peru Elementary School, and she thought it would be a fun idea to combine the two as a fundraiser for the building.”

Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for children younger than 8. All proceeds will go toward the Peru Elementary School building.

The buffet will include a choice of bacon or sausage, a beverage and maple syrup from Thurston Family Farm.

Waugh said there will also be a raffle for a hand-braided rug crafted by Thurston.

Teaming up with the Thurston Family Farm has greatly increased the number of visitors to the Peru Elementary School building on Maine Maple Sunday, he said.

“Before we teamed up with them, I’d say we had around 70 or 80 people coming to the buffet,” Waugh said. “Now that Thurston Family Farm has teamed up with us, we’ve nearly doubled the amount of people coming in. Most of the people are from Maine, but I hear about people coming to visit from New Hampshire and Massachusetts.”
