AUBURN — College for ME-Androscoggin announces the most recent recipients of The Thomas and Beulah Long Musgrave Fund Scholarship of the Maine Community Foundation.

This scholarship provides support for tuition and fees for adult learners who are enrolled in an accredited program of study leading to a degree, certification or similar recognition.

In conjunction with MCF, College for ME-Androscoggin has awarded these $1,000 scholarships for the Spring 2014 semester to the following five students:

Joseph Berry: Auburn, USM’s Lewiston-Auburn College

Michael Cielinski: Lisbon Falls, USM’s Lewiston-Auburn College

Tabitha Cloutier: Lewiston, Central Maine Community College

Ashley Fitts: Poland: Central Maine Community College

Cassandra Patnode: Sabattus, Central Maine Community College

The recipients were selected on the basis of their personal statements, letters of recommendation and financial need. Preference was given to those applicants for whom the scholarship would make a significant difference in their ability to attend school.

College for ME-Androscoggin also awarded a First Class Scholarship to Michael Roy of Lewiston, a student at the University of Maine Augusta.

First Class Scholarships are competitively awarded to adult students, age 25 or older, who are living or working in Androscoggin County. The awards cover the tuition costs of the first college class an adult student has ever taken or the first college class taken after many years.

Scholarship recipients automatically become members of theFirst Class Cohort Program. This group will meet one-on-one with advisors on a regular basis as well as with other past First Class Scholarship recipients for group mentoring.

Group members who complete the program and succeed academically in their class will be celebrated at College for ME-Androscoggin’s annual Awards Luncheon.
