PARIS — Ryan Pratt crushed a two-run double in the sixth inning for the go-ahead run as Mt. Blue edged Oxford Hills 5-3 in baseball action Thursday.

Pratt led the attack for Mt. Blue (7-7) with three hits. Evan Roberts secured the win on the mound, throwing five innings. Matt Beauchesne and Nick Attaliades-Ryan led the charge for Oxford Hills, smacking a pair of hits, as the Vikings drop to 8-5 on the season.

Lewiston 9, Messalonskee 7

FAIRFIELD — Matt Poulin crushed a two -run home run in the third to help Lewiston come out on top of a back-and-forth game, 9-7 over Messalonskee.

A seventh-inning, two-out rally from the Blue Devils proved to be enough to hold on and secure the victory, pushing them to 7-6 on the season. Nick Perreault smacked a pair of doubles, while Poulin and Gage Cote scattered two hits apiece as well.

For Messalonksee (10-4), Zach Mathieu smacked a two-run home run in the loss.

Leavitt 9, Medomak Valley 7

WALDOBORO — A fifth-inning rally pushed Leavitt to a 9-7 victory over Medomak Valley in varsity baseball action.

Leavitt went down 6-2 early, but chiseled a lead from a balanced hitting attack. Nate Ouellette drove in a pair of runs for the Hornets (6-7), while Levi Morin and Nate Coombs each ripped a double.

For Medomak (3-11), Ollie Brown drove in four runs.

Oak Hill 13, Mt. Abram 6

SALEM — A late rally from the hot bats of Oak Hill sealed the deal as the Raiders ran past the Roadrunners 13-6 in MVC baseball action Thursday.

Jake Martin smacked a pair of triples to drive in four runs for the Raiders (11-3). Dalton Therrien kept the offense rolling all afternoon, going 5-for-5 from the plate with a triple and four singles. Jonah Martin earned the win on the mound, pushing his record to 2-0.

Mt. Abram’s Cal Dixon knocked in a home run to add to the scoring, while Sol Fast batted a double, as the Roadrunners fall to 5-9 on the season.

Gray-NG 11, Lake Region 1

GRAY — Brandon Hubbard stood his ground on the mound with five strikeouts and helped his cause with two hits as Gray-New Gloucester made quick work of Lake Region, 11-1, on Thursday.

The Patriots (8-6) erupted with nine runs in the third and fourth innings in the five-inning game. Gray-New Gloucester used an eight-hit attack and took advantage of the Lakers’ (2-12) four errors.

Justin McKenna had a double and Tanner Mann produced two hits for the Patriots.

Skowhegan 9, Edward Little 3

SKOWHEGAN — Senior David Allen got the job done on Thursday, smacking a two-run homerun that propelled Skowhegan to a 9-3 victory over Edward Little in KVAC baseball action.

Allen and teammates John Swett and Chase Nelson led the offensive attack for the Indians (6-7), with a pair of hits each. Trey Michonski recorded the win on the mound, allowing six hits through seven innings.

For Edward Little (6-8), Llewellyn Jensen, Nate Pushard and Drew Lashua smacked a pair of hits each.

Softball

Messalonskee 4, Lewiston 0

FAIRFIELD — A balanced hitting attack headed by Kristy Prelgovisk with three hits, gave Messalonskee the edge as they rolled past Lewiston 4-0 in softball action.

Kylee Knight had a strong day at the plate, cracking a pair of hits, one being a double. The Eagles (10-4), Kirsten Pelletier received the win pitching. Courtney Marquis sliced the two lone hits for the Blue Devils, as they fall to 1-12 on the season.

Medomak Valley 2, Leavitt 1

WALDOBORO — A pitchers’ duel won by Hannah Marks, who struck out eight batters, lifted Medomak Valley to a 2-1 victory over Leavitt in softball action.

Hannah Watmaugh belted a pair of hits to get the Medomak offense rolling, as the team improves to 5-9. Marks allowed just three hits and one run on the day for the Panthers.

For Leavitt (8-5), Abbie Robertson struck out six batters in a strong effort, while Angela Daigle knocked in the lone score off a double.

Lisbon 5, Dirigo 1

LISBON FALLS — Kailyn Hill pitched in a stellar performance for Lisbon, striking out eight batters and allowing just four hits, as Lisbon topped Dirigo 5-1 in an MVC softball matchup.

Arianna Kahler batted in a pair of runs on a triple for the Greyhounds, who move to 6-10 on the season. Molly Nicholson and Olivia Harrington kept the bats rolling for Lisbon, tallying three hits apiece on the day.

Dirigo’s Megan Bradbury was the only repeat hitter, while Bryce Parent crossed home plate for the Cougars (11-5).

Oxford Hills 8, Mt. Blue 0

PARIS — Crystal West threw a near flawless game from the circle for the Vikings, allowing just one hit on no earned runs, as Oxford Hills cruises to an 8-0 victory over Mt. Blue in Class A softball action.

Anna Winslow smacked a home run for the Vikings, as they jump to 9-4 on the season. Oxford Hills worked well on both sides of the ball, receiving a pair of hits from West, Taylor Johnson, and Anna Kahkonen.

Mandi Currier picked up the loss pitching for Mt. Blue, as the Cougars drop to 5-9.

Oak Hill 20, Mt. Abram 0

SALEM — Strong pitching aided a fired-up scoring attack as Oak Hill trounced Mt. Abram 20-0 in an MVC softball matchup Thursday.

Makayla Nadeau and Sadie Goulet shared pitching duties for the Raiders, allowing just four hits on the day. Jamie Prue added the only extra base hit, slicing a homerun. Oak Hill jumps to 8-6 on the season with the victory.

Alora Ross scattered a pair of hits for Mt. Abram (4-10).

Skowhegan 10, Edward Little 1

SKOWHEGAN — A strong pitching effort shut down the Edward Little offense, allowing just five hits on one run to give Skowhegan the upper hand as they cruised to a 10-1 victory over Edward Little in girls’ softball.

Edward Little ran out to a 1-0 start, until it was answered by a flurry of scoring throug the next five innings for Skowhegan.

Mikayla Toth and Andrea Quirion led the offense with three hits apiece. Toth smacked a triple on the day, while Quirion picked up a pair of doubles, as the Indians jump to 10-3 on the season. For Edward Little (8-6), Danny Rock recorded two hits.

Girls’ lacrosse

Oxford Hills 17, Edward Little 6

AUBURN — Tayla Smedberg led the scoring effort with a hat trick to propel Oxford Hills to a 17-6 victory over Edward Little in girls’ lacrosse action.

The Vikings utilized 11 different scorers to spread the offense out and pull away with the victory. Samantha Bickford kept the opposing offense at bay with eight saves. Oxford Hills improves to 2-7 with the win.

Francesca Haines tallied three goals in the loss for the Red Eddies (0-10).

Lewiston 7, Brunswick 4

LEWISTON — Laurianne Murphy led a balanced offensive attack for Lewiston, tallying two goals and three assists, as the Blue Devils stepped past Brunswick 7-4 in girls’ lacrosse on Thursday.

Lewiston outshot the Dragons 25-16, as the Blue Devils improve to 7-4 on the season. Jess Cote netted a pair of goals, while Sam Cote turned back 12 shots in goal for the Blue Devils. Brunswick (4-7) was led by Sydney Anderson and Anna McMillan, who recorded two goals apiece.
