FAIRFIELD (AP) — A Skowhegan man has been charged in connection with an accident in Fairfield in November that took the life of a dairy farmer from Starks.

Prosecutors said 38-year-old Mark Bussell was arrested this week on charges of manslaughter and aggravated criminal operating under the influence in connection with the Nov. 27 head-on crash that took the life of 67-year-old James Murphy.

Bussell is being held in the Somerset County jail and it’s not clear if he has a lawyer.

District Attorney Maeghan Maloney told the Morning Sentinel (http://bit.ly/1xNeq7C ) that Bussell had a blood alcohol content higher than the legal limit to drive when his vehicle crossed the centerline.

A retired biochemist, Murphy had relocated to Starks from Boston and owned a small dairy farm.
