1931 – 2014
LEWISTON — Roland F. Johnsen, 82, of Farwell Street, died Saturday, June 14, at his home with his family by his side.
He was born in Waterville on Sept. 3, 1931, a son of the late Rolf and Mary Saucier Johnsen. He attended Brunswick schools and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He worked at Diamond Machine Corp. prior to his over 35 years of service as a funeral attendant at The Fortin Group Funeral Homes.
Roland was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish at Holy Family Church, and Past Grand Knight and Past Faithful Navigator of St. Patrick’s Church Council of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of Holy Family Church Knights of Columbus Council Third Degree and Father Conroy Assembly Fourth Degree, Lewiston Lodge of Elks, American Legion Post 22 and Holy Cross Seniors.
He enjoyed travel, and most of all, spending time with his entire family.
Roland will be remembered for his tireless community service and devotion to his family and church.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, the former Lorraine L. Fortin of Lewiston, whom he married on Oct. 27, 1956; his son, Gregory F. Johnsen of Los Angeles; his daughters, Donna Harvey and husband, Larry, of Poland, and Elaine Trytek and husband, Kevin, of Mechanic Falls; grandchildren, Joseph, Rebecca, Benjamin Trytek and Ryan Harvey; his sister-in-law, Muriel Violette of Lewiston; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his brother, Rolf; and sisters, Esther Paradis, Erna Toothaker, Evelyn Young, Thelma Eison and Irene Paiement.
