MEXICO — The Board of Selectmen will elect a chairman and vice chairman at its meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Town Office.
The board will also set due dates and interest rates for taxes for the 2014-15 fiscal year, have a discussion about local road-assistance money and reassign newly appointed Selectmen Albert Aniel and Andrew Dupuis to the consolidation subcommittees created by Municipal Resources.
In September, Municipal Resources, a New Hampshire-based company, provided Rumford and Mexico with a proposal for a comprehensive study on consolidation of services. The boards approved the proposal.
Part of the proposal, according to Don Jutton, president of Municipal Resources, involves setting up subcommittees for different departments within each town.
The subcommittees are Police, Fire and Emergency Management; Parks, Recreation, Union Services and Libraries; Public Works; and Budget, Finance and Town Hall Operations.
Former selectmen Peter Merrill and George Byam were originally assigned to the Budget, Finance and Town Hall Operations, and Fire Department subcommittees, respectively.
Among the other items to be discussed at the meeting are:
* A toll road request by resident Mike Perry.
* A date for the annual Night of Appreciation, tentatively set for Oct. 9.
* A request from the River Valley Animal Advocates for a donation of $500.
* A public hearing to discuss whether to approve a taxi cab license for Charles Proffitt, who runs Veteran’s Taxi.
