AUBURN — The Auburn Police Department has issued a traffic advisory for the morning of Sunday, July 29, during the annual Bands on the Run half-marathon and 5k.
Some road closures and lane reductions will be in effect from 8 to 11 a.m., and police ask motorists to use caution.
Main Street from Elm to Court streets will be closed; Academy Street from High to Main streets will be closed; and High Street from Minot Avenue to Academy Street will be closed.
Longley Bridge will be reduced to one lane in both directions; Center Street northbound, from Turner Street to North River Road, will be reduced to one lane; Center Street northbound, from the Veterans Memorial Bridge to Stetson Road, will be reduced to one lane, and the Veterans Memorial Bridge will be reduced to one lane in both directions.
Race-day registration at Simard-Payne Memorial Park opens at 7 a.m. and closes at 7:45 a.m.
The half-marathon is scheduled to step off at 8:15 a.m., and the 5k run/walk will begin at 8:45 a.m. The kids’ obstacle course, set up at Simard-Payne, will start at 9 a.m.
The park will also feature a post-race festival of music, food and beverage. All proceeds will benefit Museum L-A in Lewiston.
