1937 – 2014
AUBURN — Sandra D. Lewis, 77, of Auburn went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 13.
She was born in Lewiston on May 14, 1937. She was the only child of Franklin K. Blanchard and Thalia A. (Lake) Blanchard. Sandra graduated from Lewiston High School, Class of 1955. She went to work for New England Telephone Company as an operator until 1957 when she married Roger B. Keough and became a mother and homemaker. Sandra later became a dialysis technician working in Florida until moving back to Maine in 1984 to be closer to family.
Her greatest joys were spending time with family, doing crossword puzzles, reading her daily devotional and caring for her beloved cat, Lilly. Sandra was a proud member of East Auburn Baptist Church. She often spoke of the miraculous power of prayer related to her discharge from hospice in December 2013, after which she lived with her youngest daughter, enjoying time with family and living life to the fullest.
Sandra is survived by two daughters, Lisa Besse and her husband, Jim, of Quaker Hill, Conn., Jamie Pratt and her husband, Rob, of Auburn; grandchildren, Bethany Merrill and her husband, Matt, of Auburn, Joseph Lacouture and his wife, Samantha, of Quaker Hill, Conn., Brandon Boilard and his wife, Heather, of Standish, Taylor Boilard and her partner, Justin Murphy, of Auburn, Maggie Gellatly and her partner, Ryan Bourgoin, of Auburn, John Morrison and his partner, Chelsea McGraw, of Auburn; and great-grandchildren, Cade and Kendall Merrill, Savannah and Sidney Lacouture, Sophia Evrard and Hugo Boilard.
Sandra’s newest great-grandchild, Adalyn Murphy, joined her in Heaven on Wednesday, June 18.
Sandra was predeceased by her parents.
