LISBON — A 12-year-old Lisbon Falls boy has died as the result of injuries sustained when he crashed his ATV Thursday night while riding near King Road.

Police said the boy, later identified as 12-year-old Mitchell J. Breton-Tuplin, of Gould Road, crashed shortly before 8 p.m. Thursday.

“Initial indications were that the incident involved two youths who were riding separate ATVs at the time of the crash,” Lisbon police wrote in a press release Friday. “It is with great sadness that the department reports that the incident resulted in the tragic and untimely death of one local youth.”

The Maine Warden Service was called to investigate the crash, police said, as is common with ATV-related fatalities within the state. The investigation was continuing Friday.

Police spoke with families of both children involved in the crash. The surviving boy was not believed to have been seriously hurt.

According to his obituary, Breton-Tuplin had recently finished sixth grade at Philip W. Sugg Middle School in Lisbon. He was a member of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, where he was an acolyte, and played baseball, basketball and football for Lisbon.

According to the obituary: “He was a best friend to many, and was just an all around amazing boy. He enjoyed spending time with his Gram and Gramps at the lake. He was so much more than just this to all of us and his life has left a deep impression on everyone that knew him. A boy of very few words, with a smile that would light up the room and an air about him that drew people to him.”
