RUMFORD — An organic farmer on South Rumford Road is hosting a two-day spiritual retreat at her farm this weekend, joining a worldwide effort to set a new Guinness Book record in meditation.

Annette Roy Marin, owner of No View Farm COOP and Gone Loco! Cafe and Bakery at 855 South Rumford Road, said Monday in an email that her event is part of Seduction of Spirit, A Global Meditation for Peace.

That started Aug. 3 and continues through Saturday, Aug. 9, in Toronto. It is a historic meditation retreat with Deepak Chopra, Gabrielle Bernstein and master educators who will lead participants in reflective workshops, beautiful yoga practices and guided meditations dedicated to increasing global consciousness and connection, according to its website at globalmeditation.chopracentermeditation.com.

At noontime, they will try to set the Guinness World record for the largest meditation gathering, Marin said.

The spiritual-awakening retreat at Marin’s diversified horse farm in Rumford’s Androscoggin River valley on Friday, Aug. 8, and Saturday, Aug. 9, features Quantum Tone Healer Eric Breault of Berlin, N.H.

Friday’s schedule opens at 11:30 a.m. with the first event at noon, a live online meditation with Deepak.

A break and spiritual social will be held from 1 to 2 p.m., followed by chakra meditation and group blessing at 2 p.m., followed by a reiki share, dinner and another spiritual social.

“Those who stay over will have the opportunity to sit by the fire during a drumming circle and enjoy deep conversations,” Marin said.

Evening events include The Doorway of Self Empowerment and Divine Awakening from 6 to 8 p.m., and the Under the Stars Drumming Circle from 8 to 10 p.m.

Vendors will be at the event from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Aug. 9. Saturday’s schedule starts with a spiritual social at 9 a.m.

Other events include a divine connection meditation, psychic games, chakra and singing bowl meditation, dinner and a reiki share, and closing from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Marin said the cost for individual events is $8. A one-day pass is $15 or two days for $25. For those who want to stay for the weekend, there is a $5 camping fee or $20 for a bed.
