GARDINER — Johnson Hall Performing Arts Center will host an August Outdoor Family Movie Series at 8:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, Saturday, Aug. 16 and Friday, Aug. 22, in Waterfront Park. This is a free event, open to the public.

“This movie series, along with the Outdoor Concert Series, is part of Johnson Hall’s 150th Anniversary Year celebrations,” said Executive Artistic Director Mike Miclon.

The popular, computer-animated comedy “Despicable Me 2” starts the series off. Saturday, Aug. 16 features the comic time-travel adventure film “Back to the Future,” and the beloved classic American musical film “Singin’ in the Rain” will be the final presentation for the summer.

Bring a blanket, lawn chairs, and snacks for a fun family night. Popcorn and other snacks will be available for purchase on site as well. Movies are scheduled to start at 8:30 p.m., but may begin later due to variable light conditions. If it rains, the event will be relocated to Johnson Hall at 280 Water Street.
