LEWISTON — Mariah Carrier of Lewiston has been awarded the 2014 Dominic J. Roux Scholarship from Central Maine Credit Union. Mariah is a graduate of Lewiston High School and attends Husson University in Bangor majoring in biology.
Every year, the credit union presents the Dominic Roux Scholarship Award, named after its first CEO, to one of its members. Central Maine Credit Union members currently enrolled in, or pursuing higher education, may apply.

FREEPORT — Two local residents were awarded scholarships by The Maine Innkeepers Education Foundation, affiliated with the Maine Innkeepers Association at the 10th annual Tees & Textbooks event held June 9-10 at the Samoset Resort in Rockport.
Laura Brown of West Poland received the Women in Hospitality Award of $3000. Brown is attending Husson University, in Bangor, where she is a graduate student in hospitality management. She has developed her hospitality skills working at the Poland Spring Resort. Brown’s ultimate goal is to own a resort hotel.
Erica Jackson of Oxford received the Maine Innkeepers Memorial Award of $1000. The award honors the memory of two innkeepers, Timothy Watts and George MacPhail. Jackson will be attending the University of Southern Maine, in Portland, in the fall. She has hospitality experience having been employed at the Poland Spring Resort. Her long term goal after graduation is to one day be general manager of a hotel.

LEWISTON — Alex Parker of Lewiston, a member of the baseball team at Bates College, received New England Small College Athletic Conference All-Academic distinction for the spring 2014 season. To receive NESCAC All-Academic honors, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic standing and be a varsity letter winner with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.35.
Parker is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert F. Parker of Lewiston. He is a 2011 graduate of Saint Dominic Academy. He is majoring in politics at Bates.

Morgan is entering her senior year at Syracuse University and is studying photography and visual arts. She is residing in Lewiston with her parents and will graduate in May 2015.

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. — Natalie Bornstein, daughter of Peter Bornstein and Renee Cote of Auburn, received a bachelor of arts degree in comparative literature from Smith College, and was on the dean’s list for the 2013-14 academic year.
In addition to her coursework at Smith, Natalie completed a Division III (senior) oral history project at Hampshire College in Amherst, Mass.

PAUL SMITHS, N.Y. — Zachary Smith of East Dixfield has been named to the dean’s list at Paul Smith’s College for the spring 2014 semester.
Smith, who is majoring in forestry, earned a semester average of 3.3 or higher to receive this distinction. Smith was also named an Adirondack Scholar, having achieved a cumulative average of at least 3.8.
