POLAND — On Saturday, Aug. 2, a family gathering of 35 celebrated the 60th wedding anniversary of Janice and Ernest Fitts of Poland. Guests from as far away as New Orleans were in attendance.

The surprise event took place at Marco’s Restaurant in Lewiston.

Mrs. Fitts is a retired 911 dispatcher for Poland/Raymond and Mr. Fitts is a former fire chief for Poland. Their special get-away was camping and fishing “upcountry.”

They have six children, many grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and a new great great-granddaughter born Sept. 4.
