PARIS — Marty Elkin of a Wrinkle in Thyme is leading a workshop on indigo dying at McLaughlin Garden on Saturday, Sept. 13, from 1 to 4 p.m.
The workshop will be held in the garden, weather permitting. If the weather is inclement, it will be held under cover.
Kristin Perry, the garden’s director of horticulture, has been growing Persicaria tinctoria for use at the workshop. Elkin specializes in natural fibers at her farm in Sumner and will share her expertise. She will lead the entire dying process in this hands-on workshop.
The cost is $30 (excluding wool). Participants may bring their own yarn (two 50-gram skeins) or cloth or may purchase at the event. Call 743-8820 or stop by the garden gift shop at 97 Main St. to register.
- Judy Florenz at last year’s dying workshop at the McLaughlin Garden intends to participate again this year.
