1924-2014

Mexico — Dorothy L. Morse, 90, affectionately known as “Nana,” died on Friday, Sept. 5, at her residence on Fourth Street, Mexico with her loving family at her side.

She was born in Rumford on April 23, 1924, the daughter of James and Mary Ellen (Crawford) Lloyd. She attended Rumford schools.

She was a loving mother and grandmother and was known as the matriarch of the family. Her home was the gathering place and was always full. She enjoyed cooking and was well-known for her peanut butter rice crispy squares and fudge. She was a member of the Fireside Friends of the Good Sam Club and the Mexico Congregational Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren and attending their events and vacationing in Florida.

She was married February 14, 1946, in Mexico, to William S. “Bill” Morse. He died on March 19, 2012.

Survivors include a son, William Morse Jr. and his wife, Mary Ann, of Rumford; two daughters, Donna Hanson and her fiancé, Norman Voter, of Dixfield and Cindy Archibald and her husband, Alan, of Mexico; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Troy Hanson and his wife, Wendy, and their daughter, Jordan, of Hollis, Greg Morse and his wife, Peggy, and their children, Tyler and Katie, of Dixfield, Melissa Morse and her companion, Andy Wilde, and her children, Brittany and her son, Brayden, and Amber, of Saco, Heather Gray and her husband, Casey, and their children, Cameron, Bode and Marlee, of Dixfield, Brandon Archibald and his fiancée, Chrissy Young, of Portland, Justin Archibald and his companion, Lori MacCracken, of Canton and their children, Dominick and Benjamin, Brett Archibald of Mexico; sisters, Barbara Burns of Mexico and Ruth Breau of Lynn, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by four sisters, Luella, Ethel, Margaret and Bertha; five brothers, Norman, Fred, Robert, Leonard and Billy; and a son-in-law, Jim Hanson.
