There are two good reasons why I shall vote for Eliot Cutler:
• He is an independent; hence, he will not be encumbered by the pressures of the increasingly self-serving Republican or Democratic parties to toe the party line. His independence also means he is best suited to find a working middle ground between Republicans and Democrats — an effort seemingly no longer a priority of either party.
• Cutler has constructed an intelligent, comprehensive and balanced plan that addresses all the salient issues the state currently faces; and he possesses the skills and experience to make it work.
The political games have taken a great toll on the people of Maine. It is time for a governor who has the intelligence, integrity and vision to provide and protect the well-being of all Mainers.
