MOUNT VERNON (AP) — A Mount Vernon man is facing a weapons charge after police conducting a search at his home say they found more than a dozen firearms inside.
State police Sgt. Michael Johnston says Roger Clough is prohibited from owning a firearm because of a felony conviction in 2001.
The 49-year-old Clough was issued a summons charging him with possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
The Kennebec Journal (http://bit.ly/1wjXK8K ) reported that the 16 weapons found during the search include handguns and long-barreled weapons.
Johnston says police got a warrant to conduct the search after receiving information that Clough was in possession of firearms.
Evidence gathered during the search will be turned over to the district attorney’s office.
