The Hotel Rumford is at 65 Canal Street in Rumford and is owned by Kevin Kaulback, Anne Stickney and Nick Waugh (KAN LLC). The trio purchased The Hotel from Doug Schneider and Dawn Allen in December 2011.
After nine weeks of remodeling, they opened up as The Hotel Rumford Western Maine Sports Bar, trying to make a new “name” for The Hotel, making it family friendly.
The Hotel has been a famous watering hole for many in the River Valley area for a long time, and this was no easy task for Kaulback and his wife Leah to show people that it is not the “old” Hotel Rumford and that The Hotel Rumford actually has a family friendly atmosphere with a kids menu. They also have 20 HD TVs (even in the bathroom) always showing sports, and local sports when available.
The Hotel Rumford in June 2014 changed their hours of operation and opened for lunch. The menu features paninis, pita pockets, wraps, personal pizzas, salads, burgers and more. They also feature lots of quick menu options for those who are short on time.
With free WiFi on site, The Hotel is a great choice for those who can’t stop working during lunch or those who just want to catch up on current events while have a fresh, local lunch.
The Hotel Rumford’s hours are 11 a.m.-close Monday-Friday, 4 p.m.-close Saturday, and closed on Sundays.
They feature daily specials, such as $5 Burgers on Monday and Wednesday, Two For Twenty meals on Tuesday, and Trivia on Thursday.
The Hotel Rumford is available for holiday parties, class reunions, retirement parties, and other private parties. For more information, call 207-364-3621.
The main focus has been the restaurant part of the business, but what many people don’t realize is that The Hotel Rumford is actually a hotel, too. The Hotel has 14 rooms, seven located on the second floor and an additional seven located on the third floor. Remodeling has begun on all 14 rooms, with hopes to have them completed by early this winter.
The Hotel Rumford is very involved with community and especially with the GRCC. The Hotel partakes in events like The Lumberjack Festival and The Pumpkinfest, sponsoring different events. They also sponsor events at the GRCC such as the Amazing Race and Dodge ball.
