RUMFORD — A local man was arrested on multiple felony charges early in the morning on Christmas Eve and booked at the Oxford County Jail in Paris, police said.

Rumford police Cpl. Lawrence Winson charged Michael A. Roy, 33, of 9 Isthmus Road with theft of a firearm, forgery, theft and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, violation of bail conditions, sale and use of drug paraphernalia and possession of a usable amount of marijuana.

Roy was released on $500 unsecured bail by an Oxford County court official on Wednesday, a jail official said Friday morning. He is to be arraigned on the felony charges in Oxford County Superior Court in Paris on Feb. 13.  On Feb. 3, he will be arraigned on drug charges and violation of bail conditions in 11th District Court.

Reading from Winson’s report on Friday morning, Rumford police Sgt. Tracey Higley said police received a complaint that a relative of Roy’s returned to his home and discovered several items had been stolen. Among them were a credit card, a television and a rifle, he said.

The complainant also reported that the thief had used the stolen credit card at Hannaford to buy approximately $300 worth of items, Higley said.
