INDUSTRY — Police said a local woman with a 6-year-old child in her vehicle was charged with drunken driving after a crash on Route 43 early Tuesday night.
Tina Timmsen, 43, was arrested on misdemeanor charges of operating under the influence and endangering the welfare of a child, Lt. David Rackliffe of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department said.
A conviction of each charge carries a penalty of up to 364 days in jail and a $2,000 fine.
Rackliffe said Deputy Matthew Brann noticed a vehicle off the road, stopped and the driver told him she had someone coming to help her. Brann stood by as someone pulled her vehicle onto the road.
When Brann smelled alcohol on her and told her to pull her vehicle to the side of the road, she took off and drove more than a mile before Brann stopped her near The Ugly Moose store, Rackliffe said.
Brann conducted a field sobriety test and arrested Timmsen, he said.
The child was picked up by a family member.
Timmsen was released on $3,000 unsecured bail from the county jail in Farmington.
County Cpl. Nate Bean and Farmington officer Darin Gilbert assisted Brann.
