I wanted to publicly thank Rep. Jared Golden for introducing a bill that will update the expired “autocycle.”

The bill, if approved by the Legislature, will pave the way for the Elio here in Maine. The unique, three-wheel vehicle just received a 71 percent vote at the recent Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas as the product people would most like to take home.

As an “all in” early adopter myself, I understand why. The Elio is a four-season, American-made vehicle that reportedly will get 84 mpg and cost about $6,800.

I appreciate Rep. Golden’s looking forward to opening new transportation opportunities for the average Mainer.
