BANGOR (AP) — A Connecticut man authorities say ran a sophisticated drug distribution ring in Maine has been sentenced to more than 22 years in prison.

WABI-TV (http://bit.ly/154gb6s ) reported that Barry Diaz, of Stamford, Conn., was also sentenced Thursday to six years of probation in U.S. District Court in Bangor.

The 32-year-old Diaz pleaded guilty to drug trafficking charges in the spring.

Court documents say Diaz was the leader of a conspiracy that used several people to distribute oxycodone and cocaine in Kennebec and Cumberland counties.

Diaz will be given credit for time served since his arrest in August 2011.
