AUBURN — Police are looking for a man who attempted to rob the Rainbow Federal Credit Union on Washington Street early Thursday morning.
Deputy police Chief Jason Moen wrote in a news release that a man with a knife confronted a worker in the credit union parking lot at about 6:30 a.m. The man forced the worker to unlock the door to the credit union building. Efforts to enter the vault were unsuccessful, Moen wrote.
The worker fled the building and flagged down a co-worker in the parking lot, Moen wrote. The suspect then fled the building and was seen running in the direction of Moulton Field.
The worker escaped injury, Moen wrote.
The suspect was described as a white man in his 20s, about 5 feet, 7 inches tall. He wore a dark-colored ski mask, a navy-blue hoodie and dark pants.
A manager at the credit union declined to comment Thursday afternoon.
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call the Auburn Police Department and ask for Detective Chad Syphers.
