1955 – 2015
TURNER — Harold W. “Hippee” Damon, 59, of Buckfield, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, in Turner.
He was born in Lewiston on March 19, 1955, a son of John L. and Helen E. (Record) Damon Jr. He attended Buckfield schools and graduated from Buckfield High School in 1973.
Most recently, Harold worked at C.F. Wells Wood Turning in Buckfield. Prior to that, he worked at Gates Formed Fiber for 16 years. He had also been employed by Robinson Manufacturing in Oxford and Etonic Shoe, as well as a chef at Country Way Restaurant in South Paris years ago.
“Hippee” lived in Buckfield most of his life. He enjoyed playing golf, hunting, horseshoes and bowling. His family will remember him as a kind-hearted person with many friends, and he had a smile that was infectious.
Surviving are his two sons, Josh Lee of Erving, Mass., and Dustin Damon of Buckfield; two brothers, John L. Damon III and his wife, Dot, of Buckfield and Alfred Damon of Buckfield; two sisters, Merti Remaley and her husband, Larry, of Buckfield and Ruth McAllister of Norway; his stepchildren, Jennifer Melanson of Leeds, Melissa Melanson of Lewiston and Matthew Melanson of Leeds; three grandchildren, Jillian Lee Barnes, Paxton Melanson-Lessard and Presley Melanson-Lessard; and several nieces and one nephew.
He was predeceased by his parents and three grandsons, Chandler, Connor and Eli Allen.
