AUBURN — Auburn Public Library has released the teen program calendar for March.
Tweens in the Teen Space: Wednesdays, March 4, 11 and 25, noon to 2 p.m. in the Teen Space. Tweens are invited to the Teen Space on the second floor on half-day Wednesdays. There will be crafts or board games available or tweens can stop by to simply hang out or to get a head start on homework. This program is just for tweens who are in fifth and sixth grade.
Teen Anime Club: Wednesday, March 4, 4 to 5 p.m. in the Androscoggin Community Room. Teens, ages 12-18, can drop in to talk about their favorite (or least favorite) manga, watch this week’s selection of anime and try their hand at drawing characters. Snacks will be provided.
Teens! Friday @ the Movies: “Divergent”: Friday, March 6, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Androscoggin Community Room. This month, with the movie release of Veronica Roth’s “Insurgent” on March 20, you’ll want to see “Divergent” again. This program is just for teens, ages 12-18. Snacks will be provided.
Teen Tech Week: Photobooth Fun!: Tuesday, March 10, 4 to 5 p.m. in the CREATE! Media Lab. Because “Libraries are for making” during Teen Tech Week (March 9-13), explore the Media Lab. Use Photobooth, props and maybe even the green screen to take some wacky photos.
Teen Tech Week: Gaming Hour: Wednesday, March 11, and Friday, March 27, 4 to 5 p.m. in the Androscoggin Community Room. Stop by for video games and snacks. There will be XBox and Wii games rated teen and younger. Just for teens, ages 12-18.
Teen Tech Week: Flashback Friday!: Friday, March 13, 4 to 5 p.m. in the Teen Space. Wrap up Teen Tech Week with Flashback Friday. There will be some favorite childhood activities, including Legos and Play-Doh, so teens can create to their hearts’ content.
Teen Life Skills Series: Applying for a Job: Tuesday, March 17, 3 to 4 p.m. in the Androscoggin Community Room. Lisa Hartnett of the Career Center will talk about how to look and apply for a job.
Maine Job Corps: Wednesday, March 18, 10 to 11 a.m. in the Conference Room. Teens and new adults. If you had the opportunity to take part in a life-changing experience that gave you the skills you need to succeed in today’s job market, and it didn’t cost anything, would you be interested? If so, the Job Corps may be for you. Jill Moody of the Maine Job Corps will explain how the program works and who is eligible.
Teens! DIY Takeover: Sharpie Tie Dye: Wednesday, March 18, 4 to 5 p.m. in the Teen Space. This month’s project will be Sharpie tie dye. Teens can either bring an article of clothing or use the white T-shirts and bandanas which will be available. Registration is requested.
Safe Voices Drop-In Visit: Thursday, March 19, 3 to 4 p.m. in the Teen Space. Hang out with Julia from Safe Voices. Each month, she will visit the Teen Space to chat about relationships and work on projects. This month, she will bring duct tape. What can you create?
Teens! Spring Fling Dance Party: Friday, March 20, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Androscoggin Community Room. Celebrate the first day of spring with a dance party. Snacks will be provided.
Teen Life Skills: The Job Interview: Tuesday, March 24, 3 to 4 p.m. in the Androscoggin Community Room. Your application just got you an interview. How should you dress? What questions will they ask? Lisa Hartnett from the Career Center will share tips and advice on the interview process and how to interview for the job with confidence.
DIY Teens! Media Club: Wednesday, March 25, 4 to 5 p.m. in the CREATE! Media Lab. Movies; Music; Graphic arts. If you can imagine it, you can create it in the Media Lab. Teens can join the Media Club. Make trailers, podcasts and more that will be posted on the library website.
SAPRS Drop in Visit: Thursday, March 26, 3 to 4 p.m. in the Teen Space. Visit with Molly from Sexual Assault Prevention & Response Services. Each month, she will discuss and create awareness of teen issues like healthy relationships, sexual assault, bullying, harassment, substance use/abuse and Internet safety.
Teen Life Skills: Teen Opportunities Fair: Saturday, March 28, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lewiston Public Library, Callahan Hall. Looking for an internship or volunteer opportunity? Not sure if you should be taking classes or enrolling in college? Trying to apply for a job online but have no idea where to start? Lewiston Public Library and Auburn Public Library have partnered to bring the fourth annual Teen Opportunities Fair. There will be food and door prizes. This event is just for teens, ages 13-19.
