1938 – Maine Credit Union League was formed in Portland.

1945 – Parishioners of St. Peter and St. Paul voted to incorporate under the Maine State Credit Union Laws and Guidelines. Its name: St. Pierre Credit Union.

1945-1949 – Business was transacted at the residence of Alfred O. Vachon, treasurer.

1949 – A business office opened at 198 Lisbon Street conducting business on Monday and Friday evenings.

1951 – St Pierre’s Credit Union moved to 201 Bartlett Street.

1952 – First Maine Credit Union Day was celebrated.

1960 – St Pierre’s reaches its first million dollars in shares; half million in loans.

1964 – With now 5000 members, there was a need to expand and Pine Street location opened for business with fully maintained office hours, parking and a drive-thru window.

1977 – The League becomes one of the first in the nation to adopt fundraising for CULAC (Credit Union Legislative Action Committee).

1978 –The credit union launched into the computer age with the conversion of all member accounts, creating convenience and better efficiency.

1980s – Started offering checking accounts.

1985 –Granted permission to change the credit union’s common bond to anyone who lives, works, or attends school in Lewiston.

1985 – Name changed to Community Credit Union to better reflect the membership served.

1988 – Statewide credit union membership is 437,000.

1989 – Adjacent land was purchased to enlarge the building and add two more drive thru lanes.

1994 – The merger with Auburn Federal Credit Union employees was formed and an additional branch opened at the corner of Court Street and Turner.

1994 – Granted permission to change the credit union’s common bond to Androscoggin County.

1996 – Auburn branch relocated to 40 Stanley Street, including an ATM.

1999 – Maine Legislature passes legislation allowing for the creation of the SurF (surcharge free) ATM Network. 2006 – Introduction of Health Savings Accounts.

2001 – Kerry Wood joins CCU team as VP of Lending

2007 – Started writing Business Loans.

2008 – Introduction of SEP IRA, Bill Payer and Shared Branching.

2012 – Donna Steckino retires from her role as President/CEO at CCU after 34 years. Kerry Wood promoted to President/CEO.

2013 – Rolled out Mobile Banking application.

2014 – Board Chair Hugh Keene retires after 47 years of service to Credit Unions.

2015 – Membership statewide is over 650,000 with 60 branches open in Maine.

2015 – Turner Branch opened on March 9 to accommodate Community Credit Union’s 8,325 members.

2016 – Breaking ground to relocate Lewiston Branch from Pine Street to Sabattus Street.
