If downtown Lisbon Street is limited to a single lane (story, Sun Journal, March 4), what is the plan for dealing with delivery trucks and semis?
Delivery trucks are often double parked downtown, as well as parking in the few handicapped parking spots available. This is made worse by non-enforcement of “Delivery Only” parking on the street.
Also, Lisbon Street is a major artery to Main Street, which is a problem already. Expensive decorative paving won’t last long unless the big rigs are re-routed to avoid downtown.
I agree that the proposed plan would make downtown a more attractive place to be, but think that changes would be better accomplished if part of a comprehensive plan that addressed traffic flow.
The city is hardly well served by piecemeal planning, which ends up costing more money in the long run.
