ELLS (AP) — Humans aren’t the only ones vexed by New England’s high snowbanks.
Officials in Maine said a seal had to be rescued after getting stranded on a snowbank in the coastal town of Wells.
WMTW-TV reported that the seal was spotted at about 10:30 a.m. Sunday near the Wells boat launch.
Members of the Wells Police Department and the Marine Mammals of Maine organization rescued the seal and returned it to the waters of Wells Harbor.
Officials said seals sometimes get stuck near roadways in winter because they follow the ice and snow.
The town of Wells is about 5 miles from Kennebunkport, the summer home of the Bush family.
