NORWAY — Fire Chief Dennis Yates said he wants to keep the job he’s held since 2009.
“Yes, I am running,” Yates confirmed late last week.
He is one of at least three incumbents who have indicated a desire to seek re-election in the June 9 town elections. Selectman Russ Newcomb and School Administrative District 17 Director Jared Cash have said they will take out nomination papers to get their names on the ballot.
Newcomb is seeking his sixth term. He has served the board as a member of the Oxford County Budget Committee for eight years, the Maine Municipal Association’s Legislative Policy Committee and other committees.
Cash, who was first elected in 2012, chaired the district’s Strategic Planning Committee.
The terms of SAD 17 director Stephen Cummings and library trustees Cindy Reedy and Peter Toohey expire this year.
Nomination papers will be available at the Town Office starting March 16, Town Clerk Shirley Boyce said. They must be returned by April 27 with at least 25 and no more than 100 signatures of Norway registered voters.
