1933 – 2015

WEST PARIS — Harold J. “Blackie” Hebert, 81, died Monday, April 27, at the Ledgeview Living Center in West Paris. He resided in Peru.

Born in Rumford, Maine on Nov. 25, 1933, he was a son of Joseph M. and Betty (Bernard) Hebert. He attended Rumford schools and served in the National Guard for four years. Blackie worked for Boise Cascade in the paint shop and retired as a millwright.

He enjoyed trips with his great friends, including Dick and Marlene Porter, Dick and Nancy Libby and Pat and Jim Hunt. Blackie was known as a practical jokester and often the life of the party. One of his greatest enjoyments was to attend a function for his grandchildren. He was also a member of the American Legion.

Blackie was married in Rumford on July 26, 1953, to Anna Child of Peru, who survives him. Other survivors include four daughters, Pam Daigle and her husband, Gary, of Rumford, Louanne Lewit of Claremont, N.H, Wendy Hebert and her companion, John McPherson, of Rumford Point, Melissa Dupuis and her husband, David, of Rumford; a brother, Frederick Hebert and his wife, Sandra, of Livermore; sisters, Rheanne Frost and her husband, Bernard, of Peru, Krystal Laberge and her husband, Emile, of Freeport; grandchildren, Aimee, Kelly, Jeremy, Jonathan, Jared, Adam and Lynsie; great grandchildren, Kelsie, Jacob, Madison, Tanner, Taylor and Henry.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Bruce and Richard; and a half-sister, Lillian Eaton.
