1931 – 2015

LEWISTON — Rosaire A. “Rosie” Jalbert, 84, passed away Friday, May 8, at the Hospice House in Auburn after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Lewiston on March 2, 1931, to Roseanna Morin Jalbert Jacques. He graduated from Lewiston High School in 1949. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he spent time in Germany during the Korean War.

He married the former Theresa Biron on May 1, 1954. He spent many years as a roofer for Hahnel Bros. and as a machine operator for Philip Elmet Corp., from where he retired.

He was a member of American Legion Post 158 in Lisbon and a member of Apple Valley Golfers Club.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Theresa; his three daughters, Linda and her husband, James Goulette, of Kennebunk, Elaine and her husband, David Osgood, of Vinalhaven, MaryAnn and her husband, Kevin Hopkins, of Vinalhaven; two sons, Ronald and his wife, Gwen, of North Charleston, S.C., Donald and his wife, Susan, of Milford, N.H.; a sister, Cecile Grenier of Waterville; a brother, Marcel Jalbert of Vernon, Vt.; a sister-in-law, Monique Jalbert of Auburn; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his mother; four brothers, Emile, Dominique, George and Robert; four sisters, Helena Lebrun, Emerentienne (Rose) Jalbert, Antoinette Caron and Therese Plante; a grandson, Jeremy Jalbert; a great-grandson, Joshua Goulette; and two foster brothers, Fern and Harvey Lauze.

The family would like to thank the entire staff of both Androscoggin Home Care and the Hospice House for their care during his time of need.
