KINGFIELD – Kingfield POPS, featuring the Bangor Symphony Orchestra playing such popular songs as “The Sound of Music,” “Blue Moon” and patriotic tunes, will take place Saturday, June 30, at the Kennedy Farm.
Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the gate. Youth 17 and younger, accompanied by an adult, will be admitted free of charge. Tickets are available at Camden National Bank Branches in Bangor, Farmington, Kingfield, Lewiston, Phillips, Rangeley, and Stratton. They are also available at Mickey’s Hallmark and the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce in Farmington and in Kingfield at Tranten’s Family Market and Grand Central Station.
Seventeen-year-old Jennifer Hutchings will sing “America the Beautiful” as guest soloist. Dot Lambert will be the guest conductor for a presentation of “Stars and Stripes Forever.”
The evening will close with Tchaikovsky’s “1812 Overture, complete with cannon sounds and a fireworks display.
Opening acts include the Western Mountain Trash Can Band, the Smith Brothers and the Pineland Fiddlers. Live music will start when the gates open at 5 p.m. Clown Merry Giggles will be on hand, and the young and young-at-heart can try out musical instruments at the instrument petting zoo.
Guests are welcome to bring picnics or buy food from vendors on the concert grounds.
During the day, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., 35 artists and artisans will show their work at the Festival of the Arts in the downtown. Live music will be performed throughout the day, and food will be available.
