RANGELEY – A diva is referred to as a popular female performer of music other than operas. Often today, diva is used to describe an independent and very talented woman.

Rangeley Friends of the Arts is planning a Diva Night July 26 and 27 at the Club House as a fundraiser for the performing arts in Rangeley. Open auditions will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. June 4 and 5 at the Episcopal Church.

People auditioning will be required to sing one or two songs that have been sung by such known divas as Ella Fitzgerald, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion and Tina Turner. Bring your choice of music in CD format, music sheet, or any form you would like for accompaniment.
