Goshen College recognizes members of the 2015 track and field teams
GOSHEN, Ind. — Twenty-five men and 21 women competed on the 2015 Goshen College track and field teams for Coach Doug Yoder. The Maple Leafs hosted the Crossroads League championship meet on April 24 and 25, with the women finishing eighth and the men ninth.
The college is recognizing Abigail Dunn, of Auburn, a junior majoring in elementary education, and Kayla Gray, of Bridgton, a sophomore majoring in biology.
Castleton College holds annual Nursing Pinning Ceremony
CASTLETON, Vt. — Castleton College nursing student Samantha Largess, of Bethel, was recently recognized at the annual Castleton Nursing Pinning Ceremony.
At this year’s ceremony, 21 Bachelors of Science in nursing graduates were recognized, along with 56 Associate of Science in nursing graduates.
Bob Jones University holds commencement ceremony
GREENVILLE, S.C. — Heather McNally, of Raymond, was among the more than 700 students who graduated from Bob Jones University Friday, May 8. McNally graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Cross-Cultural Service.
Goshen College announces 2015 dean’s list
GOSHEN, Ind. — Abigail Dunn, of Auburn, a senior elementary education major, was recently recognized for excellence in academics on the 2014-15 spring semester Dean’s List.
The Dean’s List includes traditional undergraduate students earning at least a 3.75 GPA, while completing at least 12 hours of course work for a letter grade. Only grades from the designated semester are included in the Dean’s List selection process.
University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee holds commencement ceremony
MILWAUKEE — Nathan Charles Andrew, of Greene, was among 3,500 graduates at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee commencement exercises Sunday, May 17, 2015 in Milwaukee. Andrew graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Peck School of the Arts.
Local student wins award at Hamilton College Class & Charter Day
Clinton, N.Y. — Emily M. Grund, daughter of Susan Pease and David Grund, of Auburn, was named the recipient of The Jonathan Marder Prize at Hamilton College’s annual Class & Charter Day, held on May 11.
The Jonathan Marder Prize, established by Mr. and Mrs. Marder in memory of their son, a member of the Class of 1976, is awarded to a senior who excels in the study of psychology.
Grund, a senior majoring in psychology, is a graduate of Edward Little High School.
Local students graduate with honors from Colby-Sawyer College
NEW LONDON, N.H. — Three local students graduated with honors from Colby-Sawyer College on Saturday, May 9, 2015.
Danielle Miville, of Poland, graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. Prior to commencement, Miville was recognized at the annual Scholars and Leaders Ceremony as a member of Psi Chi National Honor Society in Psychology.
Sarah Smith, of Oxford, graduated summa cum laude from Colby-Sawyer College on Saturday, May 9, 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. Smith is also a member of Alpha Chi National Honor Society. Prior to commencement, Smith was recognized at the annual Scholars and Leaders ceremony as a member of the Wesson Honors Program and with the Carl M. Cochran Baccalaureate Award for English.
Timothy O’Connor, of Bethel, graduated cum laude from Colby-Sawyer College on Saturday, May 9, 2015 with a Bachelor of Science degree in athletic training. Prior to commencement, O’Connor was recognized at the annual Scholars and Leaders Ceremony with Athletic Training Baccalaureate Award and for his membership in Alpha Chi National Honor Society and Iota Tau Alpha Honor Society for Athletic Training Education. O’Connor also played for the Colby-Sawyer College baseball team.
Van Haasteren Interns at Lowes
SELINSGROVE, Pa. — Corrie Van Haasteren, of Raymond, is serving an internship this summer at Lowes.
Van Haasteren’s responsibilities include financial analysis, financial reporting, and drafting accounting policies. Through the course of this internship, Van Haasteren will gain experience with GAAP and SEC regulations as well as modifying a real time financial plan in accordance with new information.
Van Haasteren is an economics major in the Class of 2016. A 2012 graduate of Hebron Academy High School, he is the son of Christopher and Ellen Van Haasteren.
Saint Anselm College student and Turner resident inducted into honor society
MANCHESTER, N.H. — Saint Anselm College student Taylor Eells, of Turner, a junior biology major was inducted into the college’s Chi Zeta Chapter of Beta Beta Beta National Biological Honors Society on April 21. Twenty-three Saint Anselm College students were inducted in a ceremony in Perini lecture hall.
Beta Beta Beta requires that candidates for induction be juniors or seniors with an overall GPA of 3.0 or above.
Beta Beta Beta is an honor society for undergraduates who are dedicated to improving their understanding of biology and biological research. The national society was founded in 1922 and the Chi Zeta chapter at Saint Anselm College was established in 1996. Each year the Chi Zeta chapter holds an induction ceremony for new members.
Saint Anselm College student and Poland resident inducted into honor society
MANCHESTER, N.H. — Saint Anselm College student Tessa Theriault, of Poland, a 2015 classical archaeology major was inducted into the college’s TAU Chapter of Delta Epsilon Sigma National Scholastic Honor Society on Feb. 21. Thirty-nine Saint Anselm College students were inducted in a ceremony in the North Lounge of the Cushing Center.
Delta Epsilon Sigma is a national scholastic honor society for students, faculty, and alumni of colleges and universities with a Catholic tradition. Juniors must have a 3.2 cumulative grade point average and seniors a 3.1 cumulative grade point average to apply for membership. Applicants are selected by a committee of TAU chapter faculty and administrators based on academic standing, leadership, and service to the college and community.
Colby-Sawyer College announces spring 2015 dean’s list
NEW LONDON, N.H. — Colby-Sawyer has released its Spring 2015 dean’s list. Among those included are: Sara Berry, of Bowdoinham; Dana Fitzgerald, of Casco; Nicole Levesque, of Lewiston; Jillian Jacobs, of Otisfield; and Brady Dion, of Sabattus.
To qualify for the Dean’s List, students must achieve a grade-point average of 3.50 or higher on a 4.0 scale while carrying a minimum of 12 credit hours in graded courses.
Belmont University announces spring 2015 dean’s list
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Meghan Murphy, of Winthrop, was named to the spring 2015 dean’s list at Belmont University. Eligibility is based on a minimum course load of 12 hours and a quality grade point average of 3.5 with no grade below a C.
Susquehanna University holds commencement
SELINSGROVE, Pa. — Susquehanna University has announced its 2015 graduates.
Matthew Schreiber, of Naples, graduated with a Bachelor of Science in biology and philosophy. Schreiber is a 2011 graduate of Lake Region High School and the son of Paul and Sara-Sue Schreiber.
Lucas Wenzel, of Mount Vernon, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in graphic design and a Bachelor of Science in business administration. Wenzel is a 2011 graduate of Maranacook High School and the son of Cherie and Mike Wenzel.

LYNDONVILLE, Vt. — Brittney Robinson, of Kingfield, was among the more than 270 graduates of the 103rd commencement ceremony at Lyndon State College on May 17, 2015. Robinson received a Bachelor of Science in mountain recreation management.

Juniata College announces graduates
HUNTINGDON, Pa. — Juniata College has announced its 2015 graduates.
Elias Richard Murphy, of Poland and Anthony Joseph Salpietro, of Readfield, both graduated May 16.
Murphy, son of Kevin Murphy and Martha Stone, received his Bachelor of Arts degree in peace psychology. While at Juniata, he was vice president of the senior class, was vice president for the Juniata Activities Board, and was a member of the track and field team for four years. Murphy is a 2011 graduate of Poland Regional High School.
Salpietro, son of Thomas and Patricia Salpietro, received his Bachelor of Arts degree in politics. Salpietro is a 2011 graduate of Maranacook Community School.
