LISBON — Voters on Tuesday rejected the $15.5 million school budget by more than a 2-to-1 margin. The tally was 308-790.
A ballot question asked voters why they rejected the spending plan. A total of 659 checked “budget was too low” and 120 checked “budget was too high.”
A total of 1,101 of the 6,416 registered voters cast ballots. There were three blank ones.
The budget will go back to the Town Council for review. A new budget will go to a public hearing and then to a validation referendum at the polls.
