NEW SHARON — Two people face charges after deputies responded to a report of four people fighting at a Mile Hill Road residence late Saturday night, Franklin County Sheriff Scott Nichols Sr. said.

In essence, what started as a verbal dispute turned into a “drunken brawl,” he said. When deputies arrived, they discovered six adults who were “all highly intoxicated.” One of them reported the disturbance.

Deputies Cpl. Christopher Chase, Sandy Burke and Colt Bernhardt tried to sort out what went on and were met with hostility and belligerence, Nichols said. Initially it was a fight over car keys.

The people at the residence were given verbal warnings of disorderly conduct because they all seemed to have a role in the disturbance, he said. The incident escalated and deputies made two arrests.

Sheri Schiche, 54, of New Sharon, was arrested on misdemeanor charges of assault, disorderly conduct and failure to submit to arrest or detention, Nichols said. She is accused of kicking Chase.

While she was being arrested, Frank Hall, 45, of New Sharon, jumped into the fray, Nichols said, and ended up assaulting Bernhardt. Hall was arrested on a charge of misdemeanor charges of assault, disorderly conduct, refusing to submit to arrest or detention and obstructing governmental administration, Nichols said.

Hall bailed out of the Franklin County jail in Farmington on Monday morning on $500 cash bail.

Schiche remained at the jail Monday morning.
