DIXFIELD — Mountain View Campground will host a music festival in July to help pay for damage from a break-in last year.
Donald Litwin, son-in-law of campground owner George Welch, said that in January 2014, a break-in resulted in nearly $15,000 in damage. No one has been charged, he said.
“The event is to help give back something to the owners for their losses,” Litwin said. “All proceeds from the festival go to the campground.”
It will be held from 1 to 10 p.m. Saturday, July 18, at the campground at 200 Mountain View Drive in Dixfield. Tickets are $5 in advance and $7 on the day of the event.
Food vendors will be present at the event with variety of offerings, including pit-smoked barbecue. Beers and mixed drinks will be provided by Maine Shore Lobster Bakes, and Dixfield food cart Doug’s Dogs will be selling hot dogs.
Non-food-related vendors, including the Teaberry Arts Council, InkMaine and Rainbowluvcreations of Rumford will be set up at the campground.
Litwin said 11 bands are scheduled to play, including Mill Fire, 1 to 1:30 p.m.; Among Shadows, 1:45 to 2:15 p.m.; Arta’sin, 2:30 to 3 p.m.; Hopeless Losers, 3:15 to 3:45 p.m.; Broken Empire, 4 to 4:30 p.m.; Dark Rain, 4:45 to 5:15 p.m.; Weapons at Hand, 5:30 to 6:05 p.m.; Skrye, 6:25 to 7 p.m.; Brand New Day, 7:20 to 8 p.m.; Thirteen High, 8:20 to 9 p.m.; and In the Key of Suffering, 9:20 to 10 p.m.
Litwin said the festival would double as a fundraiser for the campground and a showcase for local talent.
“This will be an event for bands to play and get the exposure that they all deserve,” Litwin said. “Remember why this event is being done — this is not for bands to compete in. Everyone will be here to help.”
