PARIS — Oxford County sheriff’s deputies responded to 198 calls June 16-20, including:
* At 9:54 p.m. June 20, Deputy Nathan Bowie investigated a complaint of someone using a chain saw after 9:30 p.m. in West Paris. Bowie said he found the operator on Allen Road, who told him they had to remove a fallen tree and were done for the night.
* At 4:28 p.m. June 20, Deputy Matt McDonnell responded to complaint of an elderly man flagging down vehicles on Route 2 in Gilead. McDonnell said the man’s vehicle was stuck in the sand pit and needed help getting it out. AAA was called, and they pulled his vehicle out.
* At 10:17 a.m. June 20, McDonnell received a criminal mischief and theft report from a Paradise Road residence in Bethel. He discovered a vehicle passenger-side window was smashed out and the owner’s wallet stolen.
* At 10:16 p.m. June 19, Cpl. George Cayer received a report of possible illegal shooting in a sand pit off East Andover Road in Andover. He learned it was an off-duty Rumford police officer shooting a new sight system on a weapon.
* At 5:12 p.m. June 18, Bowie and Paris police officer William Grover responded to a report of a burglary in progress at an Oxford Street residence in Paris. They learned a tenant lost his key and climbed through a window in the vacant apartment next door to gain entry to the shared entry way. There was no damage to the window and the person was confirmed as a tenant.
* At 12:11 p.m. June 18, Deputy Richard Murray took a report of a 5-year-old seen walking around with a rifle on Briggs Street in West Paris. It was later discovered that a neighbor’s child was using a BB gun and had been shooting at things in the yard behind his house. There was no violation.
* At 10:53 a.m. June 16, Sgt. Timothy Holland and Maine State Police Trooper Dan Hanson responded to a burglary alarm in Buckfield and learned that the owner of the property was breaking into his home.
