AUGUSTA (AP) — A Maine man has been charged with manslaughter in connection with a car crash last year that killed a passenger.
The Kennebec Journal (http://bit.ly/1TBZ0wN ) reported that 21-year-old Thorr Ellis, of Gardiner, was arrested Tuesday on manslaughter and other charges.
Ellis was the driver the November 2014 crash in Readfield that injured Ellis, 20-year-old Bradley Plevyak, of Gardiner, and killed 26-year-old Alex Cruz, of Connecticut.
He told police he swerved to miss a deer and the car spun out, hit a boulder and flipped.
Police say Ellis was driving too fast for conditions and was under the influence of an intoxicant.
He is being held in lieu of $200,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
