1931 – 2015
SOUTH PARIS — June Moore Andrews, 84, a lifelong resident of the South Paris area, died at Market Square Health Care Center on Thursday, July 9, in South Paris.
June was born on May 7, 1931, in South Paris at McAllister’s Nursing Home to parents, Wayne and Lillian (Harrington) Moore. She was a graduate of Paris High School.
While working at the Paris Manufacturing Co., she met Gardiner Nichols Andrews. They were married on April 11, 1952, at the South Paris Baptist Parsonage. The couple built their home on Nichols Street. Both June and Gardiner worked at Paris Manufacturing for many years.
June spent many happy times with her family at her parents’ camp at Flying Point in Freeport. She loved to travel and her favorite trips included England, Scotland, Wales, Hawaii, Florida, Washington, D.C., and the Grand Canyon. June delighted in music — especially the songs of Gene Autry and Patsy Cline. She and Gardiner thoroughly enjoyed Nashville, Tenn., and the Grand Ole Opry.
Sunday dinners were a longstanding weekly tradition at the Nichols Street address and every holiday brought the family together at June’s table.
An active gardener, June enjoyed visiting McLaughlin Gardens and the Boothbay Botanical Gardens. She especially loved sharing her plants with fellow gardeners.
After retirement, June dedicated herself to traveling, caring for her mother, spending time with her children and grandchildren, making crafts and visiting the ocean.
June will be dearly missed by her daughters, Linda Andrews and Virginia Andrews, Buckfield; three grandchildren, Meghan Elizabeth Andrews-Wright, Shannon Keziah Andrews and Ariana Hali Andrews-Wilson; and one great-grandson, Hudson Montgomery Andrews-Wright.
She was predeceased by her husband, Gardiner.
The family wishes to thank the Market Square staff and special caregivers Sheila, Lizzie and Elaine for their dedicated efforts to keep June comfortable.
