MEXICO — The Board of Selectmen voted on July 16 to switch board meetings from the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month to the first and third Tuesdays, the same as Rumford.

Town Manager John Madigan said, “Last year, between Mexico and Rumford, there was a selectmen meeting every week for me to attend, which made it impossible to take a vacation. Mexico agreed to switch their meeting dates so I’d have a week without meetings, which would make it easier to take a vacation.”

The change excludes the summer schedule, when the Mexico board meets once a month. The next two regular meetings will be Aug. 18 and Sept. 15.

In other business at the brief, 15-minute meeting, the board approved a bid totaling $1,509 from carpenter Lenny Bolduc of Peru to replace the steel door and jamb leading into the Calvin P. Lyons Meeting Room.

Madigan said there are cracks where the hinges attach to the frame.

Funding will come out of the building reserve fund.

The board approved the town manager’s contract with Mexico, then adjourned to the Rumford selectmen’s meeting to sign the contract.

Selectman Reginald Arsenault said the board agreed to the terms last month, but had not gotten together with Madigan to actually sign the contract
