WILTON — After three vehicles were stolen in the past three days from Munson Road and Depot Street, Police Chief Heidi Wilcox is warning residents to secure their vehicles and belongings.

Two of the vehicles were recovered in North Jay, Wilcox said.

Police are still searching for the third, a red 2009 Honda Fit with conservation license plate number 73333. It was taken from Munson Road on Sunday night, she said. The owner reported the car missing Monday morning.

At around 7:30 a.m. Saturday, a white truck was reported stolen from Munson Road. At about noon, a blue 1998 Honda Civic was reported stolen from Depot Street near the Jay line, she said.

All three vehicles had keys in them, Wilcox said.

With help from residents responding to notices on the department’s Facebook page, the truck and Honda Civic were found in North Jay, she said. Neither vehicle had substantial damage, she said.

“This is not common,” she said. “It doesn’t happen often here.”

Only one vehicle was reported stolen last year in Wilton, she said.

Wilton police ask that anyone with information about the Honda Fit call for the duty officer through dispatch at 778-6140.

In a Facebook message Wilcox reminded residents “to be cautious about keeping vehicles and belongings secure.”
