Season outlook: The Greyhounds got within a point of their first state final since 2006 and return several key figures in the backfield. Francis and Grover were a thunder-and-lightning pair carrying the ball a year ago. Francis has appeared even bigger and stronger in summer workouts. Halls moves from wideout to quarterback, where he filled in admirably for two playoff games after Bourget went down with a knee injury. Adams is his best target on the outside, and the addition of a tall, toned-up Joseph from the basketball team should help over the middle. Mattson is the only veteran on the line, so that will be a work in progress. Grover and Adams are the lone seniors with significant experience, which means that leadership of Francis, Mattson and Halls will be crucial. Mynahan is optimistic that he will be able to use more than the 14 or 15 players who saw serious varsity time last fall and develop stronger depth. That will be necessary if Lisbon is to challenge Oak Hill and Winthrop/Monmouth for the title.
