GREENE — An armed robbery at the Circle K Irving on Route 202 in Greene early Sunday morning has the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department asking for the public’s help in identifying the people responsible.

At around 3:19 a.m. Sunday, two suspects armed with a golf club and an aluminum baseball bat walked into the Circle K Irving, looked around for the clerk (who was at the kitchen area and not behind the counter) and immediately demanded money, according to Lt. Glenn Holt, from the Androscoggin County Public Safety Division.

“They were in and out in about a minute and a half,” Holt said. The suspects made off with an undisclosed amount of money.

Suspect one was described as a white male in his 20s, 5 feet 6 inches tall to 6 feet, wearing a white hat with a possible knit visor, black glasses or possible swim goggles, black leggings under black knee-length shorts, a black jacket that zips all the way to the top of the collar, and white sneakers with a black strip around the sole.

Suspect two was described as a white male in his 20s, 5 foot 3 inches tall to 5 feet 9 inches tall with dark hair and a possible dark, short beard. He was wearing a black baseball hat with a camouflage “B” on it, a skull mask or hockey mask similar to that from the film “Friday the 13th,” a black jacket and blue jeans, and white sneakers with a dark colored outline around the edge of the bottom of the soles. He was holding a dark bag similar to a pillowcase, Holt said.

Deputies tracked the men to Allen Pond Road where they suspect the men had a vehicle parked by the old DOT shed, Holt said. The canine unit happened to be working that night and tracked the men to the shed where they lost the trail, leading deputies to believe they left in a vehicle.

“There are indications that they had walked up from there,” Holt said.

Sunday night, the Androscoggin Sheriff’s Department still had no leads from the public in identifying the two men, Holt said, although pictures had been up on the department’s Facebook page all day.

“I’m actually disappointed. I thought we might get some leads,” Holt said.

Holt said he is hoping that someone will recognize the odd way one of the men is dressed — in form-fitting leggings and shorts — adding that the man may be in the habit of dressing that way routinely.

Both men appear to have on fairly new sneakers, clean and in good shape, which could be another way someone might recognize them, he said. Deputies had not yet identified the brand of shoes Sunday night.

Anyone with information on this robbery or who thinks they may know the suspects are asked to please call the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department at 207-753-2599.
