These sleepers are distributed free of charge along with many other baby essentials such as diapers, wipes, bottles and blankets to needy babies in our area. I am affiliated with both local hospitals and many agencies in our community who help precious babies born to low-income parents, and babies born sick or premature who need our help. Many of these newborns do not have the warm clothing that is needed especially during Maine winters.
Newborns in Need is a 501(c)3 non profit and your donation is tax deductible. You can look at our website at www.newbornsinneed.org. We accept new and gently used items for newborns, particularly because newborns outgrow clothing before they wear it out! Thank you in advance for your help toward our most vulnerable children. It’s a small way we can make their lives a little easier.
Items can be dropped off or I can pick them up. My name is Denise Pettengill, phone 207-795-6538 or email lewiston@newbornsinneed.org. Thank you!
DEAR SUN SPOTS: A year ago this past July, Saint Vincent de Paul Society made a decision to close their thrift store on Ash St. in Lewiston. At that time Sun Spots received multiple inquiries as to whether we would reopen at another location.
It is our great pleasure to announce the new location of our thrift store at 276 Main Street in Lewiston, across from the former St. Joseph’s church.
Keep reading this newspaper for dates on which we will be accepting donations as well as our open for business date. We have deeply missed all of our faithful patrons and donors and are looking forward to seeing all of you again. Sincerely, Saint Vincent de Paul Society, Pauline Marsh.
HI SUN SPOTS: I have an older 12-cup aluminum coffee percolator that we use for camping. I am looking for a cover (and the glass piece) that fits it. On the bottom of the coffee pot is written COMET, The Popular Aluminum, Made in the USA. I’m hoping one of your readers will have one they will sell for a reasonable price. I would be willing to buy the whole percolator if someone doesn’t want to part with just the lid. Call me at 207-293-4337. — No Name via online submission form.
HI SUN SPOTS: School is starting shortly and I will be checking your “daily local sports docket” for the time of all high school sporting events as I enjoy attending these games, particularly those including grandchildren. I appreciate you listing these events and also the times and channels of all our favorite pro teams. But why are the Bates College games not listed? Many of us also enjoy going to these “local” games but have no way of knowing when they are being played. Please can you include the Bates College sporting events in your listing? Thanks for your consideration. — L.D. via email.
ANSWER: Our sports department would like to print all sports schedules that are sent in to the newspaper in order to satisfy everyone’s needs. The Bates College sports schedule will be added this fall. Thanks for asking.
