1937 – 2015

OCALA, Fla. — Grover Lance passed peacefully at Hampton Manor in Ocala, Fla., on Tuesday, Oct. 6, where he had been a resident for the previous eight months. He had been suffering from Alzheimer’s.

He was born in Murphysboro, Ill., Jan 19, 1937, the son of James and Mina Lance. Grover Joined the U.S. Navy at 17 years of age and enjoyed a distinguished career of 28 years as an electrician in the anti-submarine area. He retired as an E-9 master chief in 1978.

He also worked 10 years at National Semiconductor in South Portland as an electrical engineer. In 1959, he married Marie Lorraine Boulette of Lewiston. They enjoyed this bond for 56 years.

He is survived by a younger brother, Phil Lance of Granite City, Ill.; a daughter, Terry Janon of St. Louis, Mo.; his wife, Lorraine of Ocala, Fla.; a daughter, Cynthia Lance-Adams of Jacksonville, Fla.; and a son, Michael of South Paris; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
