GORHAM (AP) — Police say a 39-year-old Maine woman is dead after she lost control of her sport utility vehicle on Route 22 and rolled over.
The Portland Press Herald reported (http://bit.ly/1FUelGH ) that Sgt. Daniel Young identified the victim of the Wednesday morning crash as Jacee Johnston, of Buxton. Police say her 2004 Subaru Forester was travelling east in Gorham when she lost control on a soft shoulder around 11 a.m. They say Johnston overcorrected and veered off the road, causing the vehicle to roll over.
Police say Johnston was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle.
Young says speed was not a factor, but that witnesses told police the driver appeared to be distracted.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
