1945 – 2015

LEWISTON — Jeannine “Jean” Grimmel, 70, of Lewiston, passed away unexpectedly Friday, Oct. 9, at her home due to cardiac complications.

She was born in Lewiston in July 1945, the daughter of the late Hector and Elizabeth (Charette) Long. She attended local schools. On May 22, 1982, she married Robert Grimmel and together they proudly raised Jean’s two sons.

Jean was blessed early on with a granddaughter who was like a daughter to her. Jean enjoyed spending winters in Florida with Bob. She really enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.

Through the years, Jean’s family grew with grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly. Jean will be sadly missed by all that knew her, but we will find comfort knowing she is in the arms of the Lord.

She is survived by her husband, Bob of Lewiston; sons, Shaun and wife, Opal Tardif, of Poland, Keith and wife, Darlene Tardif, of Lewiston; sisters, Jackie Thibeault of Fort Kent, and Theresa Nadeau of St. John; brothers, Lewellyn Long, and Roland Long, both of Lewiston; granddaughters, Danielle and husband, Chad Yake, of Saco, and Kayla and husband, Ryan Mockler, of Lewiston; grandson, Ryan DiPinto of Massachusetts; great-grandchildren, Oliver and baby Yake, and Bailey and Teagan Mockler; several nieces and nephews; and special extended family member, Evan.

She was predeceased by her sister, Joanne Deschaine; and brothers, Melvin Long and Raymond Long.

The family would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Lewiston EMS and the staff at CMMC HV1, third floor, for the excellent care response given to Jean.
